Must Protect Canadians from IRGC Terrorists

Ottawa, ON – Frank Caputo, Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Safety; Arpan Khanna, Conservative Shadow Minister for Justice; Eric Duncan, Conservative Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs; and Melissa Lantsman, Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, released the following statement demanding transparency on IRGC and other terrorist activity in Canada:

“Canadians should not have to fear gunfire at their businesses, firebombs at their synagogues or violence in their communities. Yet two locations of Kiva’s, a beloved Jewish-owned Toronto bagel chain, were attacked on the same morning, one by gunfire.

“This is the predictable result of a decade of Liberal chaos and disorder. Since the Liberals took power, antisemitic hate crimes have risen 342 per cent and hate crimes overall have risen 245 per cent.

“Now we are learning that some of this violence may be anything but random. Canada’s Integrated Threat Assessment Centre recently revealed that authorities disrupted at least four ISIS-inspired plots targeting Jewish Canadians. 

“Amid some 700 affiliates of the Iranian regime alleged to be in Canada, the Liberals themselves identified some 30 Tehran-aligned operatives for deportation, having designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity in 2024 after prolonged Conservative pressure.

“But last month, when Conservatives pressed Liberal Ministers on the actions they have taken to protect Canadians from IRGC operatives on our soil, the Liberals couldn’t answer whether they’ve deported more than a single IRGC terrorist.

“Canadians deserve both action and answers. How many IRGC operatives are in Canada? How many have been deported? How many remain here today? 

“Conservatives are calling on the Liberals to disclose any known connections between the IRGC, ISIS and criminal activity in Canada; reveal how many IRGC operatives have been deported; and immediately review Canada’s National Terrorism Threat Level, which has remained unchanged since 2014.

“Conservatives will always fight for a country that is truly glorious and free, where police and prosecutors have the tools they need to keep dangerous thugs behind bars and off our streets, where Canadians of all faiths and backgrounds can live in peace and security under a proud flag.”
